In our 125-year history, PG&CC has been an all-season private members club that offers golf, curling and social events in a welcoming environment surrounded by natural beauty!

We are devoted to a legacy that promotes responsible environmental stewardship & sustainability for future generations to enjoy!

To ensure this, our Board Of Directors embedded "sustainability" into the club's new 2021 - 2024 Strategic Plan. You can review this plan by clicking this link.

Your Committee- We Work For You!

With PG&CC’s commitment to Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability (ESS), our group of dedicated members & staff is striving to reduce the carbon footprint of our Club.

In 2019, PG&CC, in collaboration with Trent University, conducted a Waste Audit Report which resulted, among other actions, in the establishment of compostable kitchen waste collection.  A local farmer picks up our waste and uses it for compost, saving the Club the cost of disposal and making better use of our kitchen waste.

Since that time, other sustainability initiatives include sourcing local products, supporting green-initiated businesses as well as recognizing and removing invasive species from our property, such as Dog Strangling Vine and Buckthorn.

We have reduced our Club's electricity expenses with numerous small improvements. The capital expenditures required for these savings were minimal. Most improved technologies and efficiencies occurred when an older asset was replaced since much of today's technology delivers superior results with less power or fuel.

Our ESS policy was approved and established in 2021.  You can review this policy by clicking on the link below.

WASTE AUDIT REPORT

In early 2020, PG&CC decided to investigate the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses (ACSP-G) (Audubon link).  We are beginning the process of a site assessment for this program.  While the achievement of  Audubon Certification is an ambitious project, it will assist in PG&CC’s environmentally conscious identification of needs, goals and priorities.

In 2021, PG&CC became the first golf club to join the Green Economy Canada (GEP) network.  With the assistance of Green UP & Green Economy Peterborough, we are completing a Greenhouse Gas Inventory (Link to report) The findings of that will guide our practices and reduce our carbon footprint going forward.
