Job Description
Job Title: Equipment Manager/Mechanic
Reporting To: Grounds Superintendent
Department: Greens & Property
Synopsis
The Equipment Manager/Mechanic position at Peterborough Golf and Country Club is a full-time, year-round position with competitive salary and benefits package. The successful candidate will be responsible for all equipment at the property, including repairs, preventative maintenance, inventories, record keeping and assisting other managers with training and safety of staff operations. We are seeking a professional individual, who strives for excellence and brings a positive attitude to the team and can demonstrate leadership qualities. The position also requires the individual to work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent towards providing the best playing conditions and future capital investments.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience in related position within golf industry
- Understands the diagnostics and operations of gasoline and diesel engines
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience in hydraulic troubleshooting and maintenance
- Experience with air cooled engines (chainsaws, string trimmers, etc)
- Familiar with Foley grinding equipment for maintenance of reels
- Welding skills (acetylene and electric)
- Knowledge of Toro, John Deere, Jacobsen turf equipment
- Familiar with word, excel and outlook
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement a preventative maintenance plan to all turf equipment and golf cart fleet to ensure top performance
- Repairs to all equipment and golf cart fleet
- Maintain adequate parts and supplies with record keeping of all expenses, services, repairs with up-to-date inventories
- Understands importance of quality of cut and height of cut on all playing surfaces
- Involved in safe operations of equipment with all staff and can work within Clubs health and safety guidelines
- Well organized with an emphasis on detail and cleanliness in relation to equipment and maintenance shop
- Keeps a professional and positive attitude with members, guest and staff
- Results driven and can adapt to a changing environment
- Assist the Superintendent in future investment decision making
- Monitor fuel levels and ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste
Working Conditions
- May be subject to work in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift in excess of 50lbs.
- Can be labour intensive periodically in a loud environment
- The position may require operation of equipment during shoulder season
